Sorry man...

Sorry to break it too you but its pretty hard to hide: Almost every melody in this song is off compared to the next. All instruments except the DnB bass were extremely poor quality. The drums were ok but still need allot more work for a DnB song. Try some filtering. Automations are always a good thing too.

Theres not much i can say on this one besides: Try making your own music before remixing someone else's. It helps mastering keys and is pro experimentation which is also good if you want to have a future in the business.

I really enjoyed this peice! Soothing sound effects, genius use of percussions and a chilling atmosphere really sets this work apart from all thoes other artists that are way over their heads.

Melodys:
This is an extremely soothing piece. I loved the melody for that square-like synth that is mostly background in this piece. Although it was good, it plays over and over again during the whole thing without any variation. That isnt too bad since this song is only 2 minutes long but it would be cool if it hade slight variations. And for sandordude: The only thing that makes it sound half maplestory-like is the way you use the guitar...

Percussions:
The percussions played a very large part in this song so i think i should go in a little more detail. The drum effects in the beggining are Superb. I loved how you faded it in and out like that. The shaker that came in after was brought in too fast, however. I would put some cutoff, maybe, to introduce them. I think it would fit well with the atmosphere of the song. The drums that are brought in at 0:52 are also good but the samples themselves, seem to be of either poor quality, or need to be EQed. There is something very off about them, although i am hesitant to put my finger on it, i do think they have high frequency issues. The toms that start at 1:30 are nice although they do create a crescendo that leads nowhere. (lol)

Mixing:
Awesome mixing! It all loops very well and the song seems to have a pretty high production quality, which is mostly caused by your epic use of automations with the drums at the beginning and the nice touch of soothing sound effects. The great reverb usage couldn't hurt either.

Overall:
Very nice work! But i expected nothing less from you. You have enormous potential and you always seem to find a way to impress me.

P.S.: She Remix is one of the best songs i have ever heard.

Box-Killa responds:

oh thanks, haha I glad you liked she remix. Yeah I used a lot of filtering of loops to create some cool percussion effects for this song.

It truly shouldn't be...

After all, i was just witness to my whole world being reborn thanks to this song...
This is not trance... This is not music... This is not art... This is The world as it is, which is what ever we make it out to be...

If this were interpreted as music, i would say that this is an exceptionnaly proffessional peice by newgrounds standards, and a rough draft by proffessional standards... It's great, but it needs a bit more editing in some areas. For example, areas where the song is just not populated enough.
Instrument choices/arrangements/filtering is all top notch. As a 7+ minute song, I'm surprised i didnt have to pay to listen to this. But for the meaning of the song, it just didn't feel all that cold.

Mrmilkcarton responds:

When you say not populated what do you mean?

STOLEN

This is a song that comes with FL Studio 9 and is used as an example for technical stuff such as vocalizing. He simply changed the pitch on every instrument

NEXUS FTW

It just has to be the most kick ass plugin out there. Its the only thing i have been using since sytrus mysteriously stopped working (LOL) and now... well you know...
Nice usage. The bass is a bit overdone and 0:43 is a bit short, but this is pretty good stuff especially for a test.

This isn't bad for a first try! But i can definitely see you adding on this! I'm not a pro at DubStep but i have been listening to quite a bit lately and i can tell you that something that really goes well with a good wobble bass, is really anything slow and distant! Something that also really helps is a melodic bass that plays the same thing as the wobble bass but sounds more clean to make the song sound less like freestyle (any simple bass works but i prefer sub)

The bass you used is good but it is kind of generic without any effects attached to it. It also wobbles way too fast in certain areas. The melody is good tho. Very dubstep-ish.

Drums are good but the addition of a nice hat would be nice. Note that putting effects like love philtre on the drums at certain key parts can score major points! especially in dubstep.

I think you should definitely try to finish this! I hope this helps!

SessileNomad responds:

i actually think the bass sounds a bit different in comparison to most dubstep i hear, i mean its not completely new but yeah, you get my point

i dont even know what kind of effects would work well in a song like this xD

Epic

Now this is a deep song! Almost sounds like its supposed to describe an insane man's life! Seriously, i love how you used the drums! i do not know how you came up with all this... It's original, It's new, the instruments are well used, the drums and percussions are extremely well done...
I just love it!

InvisibleObserver responds:

This is one of those songs as I made it I often listened to it loop instead of progressing in its writing.

Borring...

I really dont get what everyones getting so excited about! it's all about the vocals because seriously! when you get down to it, thats all it is! Vocals! this is the most generic shit ever, and people are going crazy about it. Look im all cool with you showing off your nice mic here on Newgrounds. Us other artists like the rest of the attention but sooner or later people are gona realise how generic your music is! Now is the time to start putting your back into it!

AMP responds:

Haha, you're a pissy person. I have the shittiest mic but because of my knowledge of EQing and mastering i made it sound like a nice mic. Seriously my mic is 20 dollars.

This is generic i agree, but i made it to practice my vocals and its for easy listening not for your smug IDM shit.

I enjoy how people ignore production quality, and overall professionalism
of a song and focus on stupid things like how generic things are.

You act like singing is easy, please try and you will realize that i actually put a large amount of effort into it, its more than 'Just Vocals'.

I looked over your stuff and your stuff has very average production. Please try making something like this no matter how generic it is and you will see that it is not easy.

So please don't tell me to "put my back into it" because i put a lot of effort into it and i would appreciate it if people like you dont shoot me down because their taste in music is different.

Thanks...

Very good!

Now this is the kind of song i would really hear in a movie! the kind of scene that makes you think "hmmm the only thing that really makes this scene good is the epic music!" I really enjoyed listening to this song but there are a few changes that would just make this sound movie quality! Like for instance, you have some kind of percussion or bass in the background: switch that for some nice snare drums with some reverb would sound epic! Your bass is also on and off in this song, you should make it better and always there, just at different volume levels! also make it a song by putting some intro and outro! its not that hard to do really, but really changes the mentality of the listener.

Peace!

iHeartQuistis responds:

Hm, I was aiming for it being a loop... which is why I didn't exactly configure an intro & outro. And yes, the bass is probably due to my current headphones. I have a hard time EQ'ing bass with these things.

I LOVE IT

I absolutly love all your acapella songs! Hilarious, deep... epic

Stalagmite responds:

haha! why thank you baldrick! :D
